Capture fugitive dust and recover product during bulk transport

  • Reliable, simple and robust design – no moving parts
  • Low maintenance– no filters or motors
  • Recovers product and transfers back to storage for future use
  • Highly customizable to fit specific site applications
The Alfa Laval Vortex DRS helps enhance the safety of personnel and the plant by passively recovering bulk product that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere during conveying. It has no moving parts, filters or motors so requires little or no maintenance.

How it works

Vortex DRS

Dust-laden air vented from a bulk storage vessel enters the side inlet of the Alfa Laval DRS Spintop Air Cyclone. As the air spirals around the cyclone's uniquely designed vortex finder, the dust particles are forced outward and down the walls of the cyclone by the centrifugal and gravitational forces. The air forms a reverse vortex at the bottom of the cyclone and travels back up the center of the vortex finder and through the clean air exhaust.

The dust particles exit at the bottom of the cyclone into the pressure vessel. Once the collection vessel is full, the bulk material can be pneumatically transferred back to storage for future use.
